The UK’s fastest growing fitness chain, Pure Gym, opened its revolutionary new gym concept of 24 hour opening times and no fixed contracts for members, in Sheffield late yesterday with the help of the current Miss Sheffield, Kayleigh Hewitt.
The city, famous for its steel industry saw Kayleigh officially open the new health and fitness club, on Manton Street in Sheaf Gardens, alongside Gym Manager, Anthony Berry and Assistant Manager, Matthew Williamson as the first 24 hour fitness commitment launches to Sheffield public. Great news for the flourishing Sheffield economy, as the former car dealership building has benefited from a £1 million investment to redevelop and create what is now a modern, spacious and clean 15,000 square foot gymnasium, set to employ up to 20 staff. The new club also boasts world renowned cyclist, Lance Armstrong’s LIVESTRONG S Series indoor cycles by Matrix, only the second club in the UK to feature these advanced pieces of fitness equipment. It is also the first club in Sheffield to show case the next generation of vibration technology in the form of Bodycore functional training platforms.
The 24 hour opening is also welcome news to the 17,000 plus businesses in Sheffield, of which the largest area of employment is within the hotel, leisure and restaurant sector, renowned for unfavourable working hours.
This more accessible, but no frills approach to fitness which has already been launched and is successful in six other UK cities, was brought to fruition by entrepreneur and leisure industry specialist Peter Roberts. Peter, Pure Gym’s CEO said “in the current economic climate everyone is looking for ways to save money and Pure Gym offers that, without compromise. We offer a brand new, fun and desirable place to work-out for at least half the price of our competitors, there’s no binding contract and our members have the opportunity to exercise 24/7 in a safe and secure environment”.
Armed with a wealth of experience in the leisure industry, having started the Langdale Group PLC in 1980; set up Luminar Leisure in 1989 and launched the Golden Tulip UK hotel chain in 2002 before selling it to Whitbread in 2007, Peter is now focused on expanding and making the same success of Pure Gym. He added “ As well as the stereotypical shift workers and emergency services, Pure Gym’s offering is sure to appeal to students who are looking for a cost effective way to train, regular ‘gym bunnies’ looking for a more efficient place to work out, and those who simply want help in achieving short term goals to get in shape for summer.”
A special offer monthly membership of £12.99 is running until 4th June. The monthly membership fee following that date is only £15.99 and for this, members can benefit from the use of a fully air-conditioned gym with over 170 pieces of state of the art equipment in a clean, comfortable, safe, friendly and spacious setting, a free initial exercise induction, a variety of exercise classes, and personal trainers available daily.
