Since Pure Gym opened its doors on Manton Street (Sheaf Gardens) a couple of weeks back, we’ve been desperate to find out how the first 24 hour gym in Sheffield plans to get the city into shape.
If we’re been completely honest, we were also lured by the £15.99 per month membership fee and no contract policy....at the same time asking ourselves, where’s the catch?
As we discovered, there simply isn’t one. We arrived in anticipation as to what we would find for such a low membership fee, what type of equipment was on offer and what to expect in terms of facilities as a whole, but immediately we were pleasantly surprised.
Having punched in our code to open the doors to a revolutionary state-of-the-art gym greeting, we should have expected nothing less, really. The former car dealership has benefited from a £1 million investment by Pure Gym to redevelop it and create what is now a modern, spacious and clean 15,000 square foot gymnasium.
Its 24 hour opening policy is also completely unique and undoubtedly a city first. The concept and ability to train around the clock to suit your own personal needs makes the gym appealing to pretty much everybody, even those who work unfavourable hours and struggle to work their lifestyles around standard gym opening times. And then we come back to the monthly fee. In the current economic climate, where everyone is looking for ways to save money Pure Gym offers this – but from our experience, without compromise.
It not only boasts some of the most cutting edge fitness technology available in its equipment, but also offers a clean, comfortable, safe, friendly and spacious setting to work out, a free initial exercise induction courtesy of gym manager Anthony Berry and his staff, a variety of classes and personal trainers available daily. This more accessible but no frills approach to fitness, which is successful in six other UK cities, has definitely earned its stripes with Exposed Magazine and is sure to be a success here in Sheffield.
So, although still feeling slightly worn out from a killer session, our advice is for Exposed readers to pop in and pay Anthony and the team a visit as the equipment and expertise available is sure to knock anyone into shape – although we ourselves still have quite a way to go yet.....same time tomorrow then, Anthony.
